

Williamsburg MMA Financial Aid & Work-Study Program
Williamsburg MMA is committed to making high-quality martial arts training accessible to families and individuals who demonstrate financial need. Our Financial Aid and Work-Study Program is designed to support students who are motivated to train, contribute positively to the academy, and maintain consistent participation.
Families and individuals who believe they may benefit from financial assistance are encouraged to apply. Financial aid is limited and awarded selectively each year based on demonstrated need, household circumstances, and alignment with the academy’s training culture.
All applications are reviewed confidentially by academy leadership.
Financial Aid Application Requirements
To ensure a fair and consistent review process, applicants must submit the following documentation:

A written letter explaining the financial circumstances of the applicant or family and why financial assistance is being requested

Proof of household size, including number of dependents

The most recent three months of bank statements

A current lease agreement
ā

All applicable income tax documentation, including:

Form 1040 and all schedules

W-2s and/or 1099s
-
IRS Form 4506-T (required annually)

Business owners, including owners of rental properties, must also provide:

Copies of business tax returns with all supporting schedules, including:

Schedule C (if applicable)

Form 1065, 1120S, or K-1 statements, where relevant

Work-Study Program
In addition to traditional financial aid, Williamsburg MMA offers a limited Work-Study Program for approved applicants.
The Work-Study Program allows students to offset a portion of tuition through structured, supervised contributions to the academy. Assignments are designed to support academy operations while reinforcing responsibility, professionalism, and community involvement.

Examples of work-study responsibilities may include:

Facility upkeep and equipment organization

Assisting with youth or beginner classes under staff supervision

Event support and academy logistics

Work-study positions are limited, assigned at the discretion of academy leadership, and scheduled around training and school obligations. Participation in the Work-Study Program does not guarantee financial aid and may be adjusted or discontinued based on performance, attendance, and academy needs.
Commitment & Expectations
Applicants receiving financial aid or participating in the Work-Study Program are expected to:

Maintain consistent attendance in accordance with academy guidelines.

Uphold academy rules, conduct standards, and professionalism

Train safely and respectfully with partners and staff

Financial aid and work-study placements are awarded on a 3-month review cycles and are not guaranteed for renewal. Continued eligibility may be reviewed based on attendance, conduct, participation, and updated financial information.
Confidentiality
All financial and personal information submitted is treated as strictly confidential and is reviewed only by academy leadership for the purpose of evaluating eligibility.
Important Notice
Submission of an application does not guarantee approval. Due to limited availability, only a select number of applicants are approved each year.
Additional Considerations
